Get My Public Key

It doesn’t come up often, but sometime people want to send me encrypted messages. If you are one of those then you’ll need to download the PGP public key for William Frantz. My PGP fingerprint is DF5B 050E DC37 434C 1CCB A06F 08F3 7C21 2C24 542F.
If you exchange public keys with me or anyone else, make sure to use trusted channels. You cannot simply attach your public key to an e-mail message. That message could be easily intercepted and altered. If you must use e-mail, make sure you digitally sign your e-mail using a trusted certificate so there is no chance of your key being altered in transit. I typically use a free secure e-mail certificate from comodo for my e-mail. Alternatively, use an HTTPS connection to a trusted key server. I use the PGP Key Server.
If you need good crypto software, I recommend the free GNU Privacy Guard. For an excellent primer on GPG, see the GPG Quick Start guide.
